On March 1st for Dr. Suess Read Across America Week, we asked our partners from across the community to come in and read to our students. Our goal for this project was to show emergency personnel and workers across various occupations in a safe and trusted environment. So many times, our students are first introduced to emergency workers in trauma situations. We wanted to build a positive connection for these students in a familiar environment where they can learn more about those professions.
Thank you to our Kirksville Fire Department, Kirksville Police Department, AdairCountyAmbulanceDistrict, MU4KirksvilleMO, Mark Twain Behavioral Health, CompleteFamilyMedicine, and KTVO.
Because it was also "Dress for your Profession" day we also invited community members such as entrepreneurs, staff members at Truman State University, KTVO, and more to talk about their jobs.
We want to personally thank our community partners who came in and read to our students and spoke about their jobs. Kirksville R-III can't do it alone and we are thankful for our wonderful community that continues to help build and shape these students' futures.
