Bus evacuation drills for the semester will be completed on school grounds Tuesday, October 31, 2023. During on campus, morning drop-offs, all bus riders will learn safe evacuation procedures from their drivers, then practice exiting the bus quickly, quietly, and safely. Various teachers and staff will be on hand to assist drivers and monitor students during the process. Bus evacuation drills are required by the State of Missouri to ensure that students are aware of what to do in an emergency situation.

We are having a double-your-celebration day. Both our "Roar of Applause" and our spotlight administrator for National Principals Month are the same person! Today we appreciate Ms. Melissa Klocke our director at the Early Childhood Learning Center! Ms. Klocke told us that while she was a student, "I was always in trouble for talking too much, but I was never sent to the principal's office." We can believe her on that! The "Roar of Applause" submitted by one of her staff members, reminds us that Ms. Klocke, "is an amazing leader." We all know this is true, for sure! Ms. Klocke, thank you for everything you do as an educational leader for our students, staff, and community! Join us in congratulating her on this "Roar of Applause" 🎉🐅 #kvproud #kvtigers #welovekirksville

Ms. Laryn Pinkston's preschool class is happy to announce that recently their caterpillars fully transformed into butterflies! The children observed the caterpillars eat, grow, form their chrysalises, and finally, emerge in all their beauty. They went outside together to release and give them a proper send off. Notice Ms. Pinkston modeling butterfly body parts and check out the excitement on her students' faces. Keep on discovering our world together, preschoolers and Ms. Pinkston! #kveclc #kvtigers #welovekirksville

A big THANK YOU to Mrs. Shelley Reese from the Adair County Public Library for coming to visit Ms. Laryn's class to talk about the life cycle of butterflies. Mrs. Reese left caterpillars so the students can gain first-hand knowledge about the butterfly life cycle in real time.

On behalf of EccoRide and the District we apologize for the afternoon bus delays . We greatly appreciate your patience through this first day transition. A major part of the delays were caused by the safety checks being held at each stop. With new drivers being unfamiliar with the students, they are stopping at each location for a safety check to verify each student is the correct one to be let off at that location. Again your patience is much appreciated. We are confident it will get much better especially as additional drivers are being added.

NEWS RELEASE KIRKSVILLE R-III SCHOOL DISTRICT Enhanced School Security Superintendent Robert Webb announced today part of the Kirksville R-III School Districts continuing efforts to strengthen security measures across the KVR-III schools. In the spring of 2023 results from a more than 600-page audit of the district safety procedures and equipment was presented to the Administration. One element of the audit was the need to strengthen district protocols regarding visitors to each of the six school buildings. Included in those findings was the need to deploy an efficient identification validation and check-in process for those who enter a school beyond the office area. Beginning August 22, 2023 all schools will have in place a system provided by KIDaccount whose software includes a visitor management process that we will require of all visitors to the schools during times when students are in session. Each building will be equipped with a sign-in digital kiosk in the front entrance or office of the building. All visitors will need to sign in at the kiosk. To further ensure that guests are properly authorized for contact with individual students, when signing in each person will need to provide a government issued photo ID, preferably a driver’s license, to be allowed further entrance to the building. We understand this process is new and may seem a little inconvenient at the beginning, but we are excited and confident that KIDaccount will bring an additional layer of security to each of our schools. We are grateful in advance for your understanding and patience.
