Voters head to the polls today, April 2, 2024, until 7pm, to decide on keeping Kirksville R-III School District's current bond tax levy of $0.08190 per $100 of assessed valuation. KVR-3 has a strong history of planning for its future facility needs, putting the bond issue plans to the voters, and then delivering on those plans--within budget.
Bond 2024 has been branded, Progress. Perform. Protect. The district's facilities committee, made up of community members, determined that protecting the students, renewing the current Kirksville High School building, and investing in facilities for our drama, band, and choir programs are top priorities. Overcrowding at the high school would be alleviated by the addition of the Education Center for the Performing Arts, which would house classrooms for the band and choir, as well as provide a 700+ seat auditorium for performances.
Safety is tied to every project the committee proposed. From the addition of safety entrances for buildings without one, to updating technology of current safety entrances, to connecting the high school to the tech center, the committee has insured safety is included throughout all plans. The six proposed projects of Progress. Perform. Protect: Bond 2024 can be found here: https://www.kirksville.k12.mo.us/o/ksd/page/bond2024-copy
