PROGRAM DESCRIPTION 
Digital Design & Graphics is a 1020-hour program available part-time to HIGH SCHOOL JUNIORS & SENIORS as (1) three-hour block in the morning or afternoon. Students must commit to two years to be a completer. This program opens the door to a wide spectrum of occupations from computer work to printing operations and screen printing positions.

 Digital Design & Graphics is designed for students to gain a working knowledge of digital print design, publishing and printing.  This will include hands-on copy printing of items such as business cards, memo pads, brochures, booklets, and bumper stickers and a complete study and application of the various components, principles, procedures, and equipment involved in printing.  Projects will include instruction on and use of inkjet printer, vinyl cutter, paper cutter and plate maker.  A complete study of the screen print method will also be instructed.  This will include hands-on screen printing of items such as jackets, caps and shirts, as well as, heat transfers, equipment maintenance and operations, inks and dryers.  Students will learn advanced design and layout concepts and skills utilizing industry-standard software applications.  Project work will be done on Macintosh computers with emphasis on advertising design and media arts.  Students will work in large format digital files, media art and animation on programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and In-Design.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

  • ​​Upon successful completion of the two-year program in Graphic Design Production, students are eligible to receive one additional credit of embedded Technical Education Math.

  • Students are encouraged to join SkillsUSA.

  • Students meeting requirements are eligible to be nominated for National Technical Honor Society.
