Automotive Mechanic/ Technician
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Automotive Mechanic/Technician is a 1020-hour program designed for those who are interested in entering the field of automotive or diesel truck/equipment service. The program is available full-time to ADULT STUDENTS as (2) three-hour blocks or part-time as (1) three-hour block with your choice of morning or afternoon classes. Part-Time students must commit to two years to be a completer. Students attending 540 hours or more and successfully complete the requirements may receive Maintenance and Light Repair (MLR) certification. Students attending 840 hours or more and successfully complete the requirements may receive Automotive Service Technician (AST) certification. Students attending 2100 hours and successfully complete the requirements will receive the Master Automotive Service Technician (MAST) certification.
You will learn the mechanical and electrical principals to service today's complicated and integrated systems of the modern automobile. You will achieve these goals in both the classroom and shop. The combination of class time as well as hands-on shop experience will prepare you for the Automotive Service Excellence Certification program. Successful completion of the eight specialized areas covered will prepare you to enter the automotive industry as a certified technician to specialize in the field of your choice. Upon completion of the program, students will complete the ASE student certification exam.
